Salvatore joined Armacell in July 2014 as WAM Safety & Environment Corporate Coordinator.

I moved to Muenster from Turin one week before I started my job. I work with a very nice, family-like team and I appreciate the possibility to work very closely with my colleagues.

"My ‘real’ family moved with me to Muenster: I have two kids, Giorgia and Enrico. Enrico is the youngest one and he is born in Muenster.”

Before he started working with Armacell, Salvatore gained experience in various fields ranging from Process Technology to World Class Manufacturing Safety and Environment. In his position as Safety & Environment Corporate Coordinator, the trained Aerospace Engineer develops an official worldwide Group Guideline for Safety:

“I work on seven steps for Safety and Environment and develop the related tools and training materials. In order to monitor the implementation of the WAM SAF& ENV Pillars I work closely together with the different plants. We monitor the effective implementation of the tools and training sessions and check how well the new tools and methods function.”

For example Salvatore carries out health checks in the plants all over the world and analyses the results with the respective plant managers and EHS managers. His currently biggest project is the establishment of a “Safety Culture” in the production facilities in order to reduce the number of safety events.

“For this we are using the SMAT Audit; a Safety Audit performed by the manager. This is a two way discussion with a colleague who works in the production area on how safety can be improved or sustained at a good level. The ideal outcome is a number of agreed actions that help us to eliminate unsafe behavior.”

Furthermore, Salvatore wants to foresee risks even better so that the majority of potential unsafe behaviors during daily work can be prevented. “Because the prediction of potential unsafe behavior helps us to reduce or even eliminate all the safety risks. I want to create and sustain a completely safe workplace.”
