Dennis Kurztusch – “I am positive that Armacell will continue to further develop and to find more and more optimized processes and useful new technologies.”

The first time Dennis entered the doors of Armacell was in March 2015 when he participated in a guided plant tour. He took notice of Armacell because his father, who is an insulator and works with Armacell products, had given him the tip to inform himself about the company. Dennis did so, applied for a position as a Master’s student at the Research & Development Department and accompanied his father to the next plant tour.

When I received a call to come over for a job interview I was at the plant already taking part in the plant tour. So I did the interview straight away.

"During my time as a Master’s Student at Armacell I was offered a position as Process Engineer and I didn’t hesitate to accept the offer.”

Dennis finished his studies of Advanced Chemistry with a Master’s degree at the University of Applied Sciences Niederrhein in Krefeld. In cooperation with Armacell he wrote his master’s thesis in the R&D Department about “The effect of fillers to thermal conducting in rubber based compounds”. He is not so far from being a student, and therefore the practical activities in his new job are a welcome change:
“Mixing a compound with a batch of ninety kilos is a vast contrast to the small experiments in the University lab. At the end of the day you see what you achieved – and you see a huge amount of it.”
Besides these rather practical experiences, Dennis takes care of the optimization of processes. That means, for example, tracking process parameters and configurations that can be changed manually and therefore can also be optimized.

The most exciting thing about his job? “It’s the small competitions within the company that make it so exciting to optimize processes: If another plant finds a new, more effective way to deal with a process, than the other plants, then of course you want to achieve an equal optimization. That’s why I am positive that Armacell will continue to further develop and to find more and more optimized processes and useful new technologies.”

Another thing that Dennis is keen to further develop is his private music project: “If you like hard rock and punk music, don’t hesitate to search the internet for my band ‘Das Niwo’”.
